About This Session:

This beachfront maternity session meant more to me than the average session. Gabrielle is my oldest sister, and in 2017, she married the love of her life, Bryce. While we may live exactly 1,000 miles apart, there is never a doubt that the few chances a year that we have to see each other are filled with sweet moments like these. This is such a beautiful stage in their lives as they await the arrival of their sweet little girl! And let me just say, I have been DREAMING of the day that I would be an aunt and spoil all my little nieces and nephews! We chose to photograph their maternity portraits on the beach near their home where it captures their warm-weathered life in Florida. And as the waves splashed onto our toes and the sun began to set behind the horizon, it couldn't have been a more perfect location to document their excitement during this time! While I may be a young photographer, motherhood is truly the inspiration behind my work. For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of the day that I will get to experience holding my own little one in my arms. I can see in my older sister what I know she has always been preparing for her whole life. My heart is beyond filled as I get to witness her walk through this life with her one-and-only and her natural motherly instincts as she brings a new little princess this side of heaven.

Wardrobe:

Gabrielle and Bryce created two stunning outfit duos from the guidance of the complementary Annika Jean Style Guide to not only look beautiful, but also feel comfortable! Gabrielle's blush lace dress is from Stellie Bellies, a maternity consignment shop in Palm Harbor, FL, and then we discovered the light blue dress and white dress shirt during our shopping adventures at Target. With their timeless wardrobe choices, all the attention is brought to their beaming smiles, and you can just tell the love that they have for each and their new little one shining through!

August 20 - Becoming Parents, A Maternity Session

About This Session:

This session was with first time expectant parents Gabriela and Jason here in Indianapolis, IN. I loved that they wanted to incorporate their beloved pet, a Bernese Mountain Dog, Rowan at their session. Not only is Rowan a beautiful dog to photograph, but she made the session extra playful and special for Gabriela and Jason. This family exuded joy and lightheartedness throughout their session and it was obvious how excited they are to welcome their first baby this fall. With the combination of this lovely family, the sunset and gorgeous weather it turned out to be an exceptionally beautiful session.

A Word from the Parents:

Having a family, for us, is the chance to grow the love that we found in one another. We hope to create a family centered around the love, acceptance, adventure, and passion for life that we’ve been blessed to have had together so far. By having a child, we know that we’ll only be able to experience all the wonders of the world all over again through the eyes of our baby, and along the way, hopefully teach others the very things we love so much in life and in each other.

About This Session:

This newborn session was photographed at the grandparent's vacation home in Grandfather Mountain Lake, NC. This first time Mama wasn't sure if she would have newborn images because of COVID; like all first-time mothers, she was nervous and unsure of what the best thing to do was. So, I encouraged her to photograph baby outside from a safe distance. This location is even sweeter because it's a sentimental location to Mom; a place of safety and comfort. I hope these images always bring her comfort and remind Mama of her strength during these hard times.

August 6 - A New Baby Session in the Comfort of Home

About This Session:

This session was extra special as it was for a colleague. Having been there through the whole pregnancy and being the photographer for the baby shower, it was beyond exciting to finally meet Ivy.

With no siblings and all of my cousins having their babies out of state, I’ve missed out the super early days of family babies. To get to be there for Ivy and her parents' journey is closest thing to a family baby I've been able to experience first-hand.

Being at home where everything is familiar (and easily accessible in case of accidents!), really allows for the magic and wonder of a new baby to shine. There’s an added bonus to this session with the presence of Sammy and Frankie, two 6 month old kittens who had to be in on all of the action. There was a point where Ivy was fussing and while dad was trying to calm her down, Sammy got into mom’s arms and stretched out as she bounced him like a baby, as if to show Ivy that she too could be chill. Later, he decided Ivy would make a perfect snuggle companion.
