January 27, 2022 - The Honor of Photographing a Fellow Artist

By Adrianne Shelton, Beatific Visions Photography

About This Session:

You ever get to your favorite session location to find that the whimsical tall grass has been recently cut and your heart just sinks? That's exactly what happened when I pulled up to this gorgeous field just before this session. After all, this family session was booked with a fellow (extremely talented) family photographer, and I wanted everything to be absolutely perfect.

But as artists, we face these challenges all the time, and if you look at it the right way, it actually gives us an opportunity to adapt, to grow, and to learn and create something completely new.

Lauren and her family were absolutely delightful to work with. They were game to tromp around the place- including my go-to path that was roped off because of some kind of work being done to the ground- and join me in navigating new places to capture the beautiful light in some new ways. Of course she had planned the most perfect wardrobe for herself and the whole family, and the contrast between their outfits and the fall surroundings made for images with amazing depth.

Throughout the session there were giggles, jokes, and plenty of compliments for mom, but not a single complaint. Their adoration for each other and the way they truly enjoyed being together was obvious.
