About This Session:
This was a dream family session! I loved photographing Giancarlo, Katie and baby Elsie! This session had its challenges, (lots of mud, a wedding in the public park, and lots of runners!) but it turned out magical!
This shoot was done in Alexandria, VA. Just outside of Washington D.C. Just before golden hour!
As a mom myself, when going into a family session I understand that each child is different. Baby Elsie was turning one! The best way to celebrate is to get family photos done! Elsie was very shy, and hung on tight to her mama. Her mother Katie showed so much love and gentleness to her baby through the shoot.
Both parents, Giancarlo and Katie, are proudly serving the military. I am a military spouse, so I understand how important it is to take photographs of the location you're at with the stage of life your child is in.
What inspired me during this shoot was knowing and understanding this precious time in their life. They won't be in the D.C. area forever, so capturing Mommy and Daddy with their daughter to celebrate her first year of life is priceless. Elsie has bloomed into a beautiful sweet little girl and she deserves to be celebrated!
Katie and I were talking about the challenges of parenting and being so far away from family. Yet, knowing being together as a small little family is all that matters.
I captured their love as a family as it is slowly growing everyday. Natural, loving, and candid.
Katie, mentioned that because of COVID they were able to spend so much quality family time together. And in the first year of Elsie's life, spending time together as a family is an amazing gift she was given and deeply grateful for.
